Flower of the Month: Matricaria Chamomilla (Chamomile) - Flowers Gold Coast

Flower of the Month: Matricaria Chamomilla (Chamomile)

This month Flowers Gold Coast has been adding Matricarira, or as we just discovered, also goes by the name Chamomile - see even we keep learning!

Chamomile is a little bit of a wonder Fleur, we dive in to some of it's cool properties as both a remedy as well as splash of lovely colour to your Bouquets!

Native to Southern & Eastern Europe originally, Matricaria can now be found globally and is well loved due to it's home remedies, lovely colour as well as it's very strong aromatic smell.

Matricaria Chamomilla's scent is surprising given it's size, but lends itself to its name. From the Greek word Chamaimelon, meaning Earth Apple, this little flower packs a punch with its characteristic apple like scent. It's Latin name neatly ties it together with the word thought to be from Matrix or "Womb" for it's use in treating menstrual cramps and pre-menstrual symptoms.

But this isn't all Chamomile can do! While we wouldn't recommend it for our own Flowers, Chamomile has been used to treat a multitude of symptoms and complaints. Across Europe and the Globe Chamomile is used in Herbal Medicine for Sore Stomachs, skin care or even to help with inflammation!

Most often used as a Tea, Chamomile is enjoyed across the globe for it's sleep aiding effects and is used as a beneficial evening beverage.

This powerful little Flower makes a wonderful accompaniment for it's looks too! We add it for its joyful Yellow and White combination and adds quite an effective Wild Cottage-esque element to our bouquets.

Pick up or Delivered across the Gold Coast, Flowers Gold Coast can have Matricaria added to your arrangement on request.
