MOVE + BLOOM: Pilates and Flowers with The Female Collective, Miami
Sunday 28 June was one of those mornings that reminded us why we love doing events like this. The Female Collective organised MOVE + BLOOM, a flower making and Pilates workshop at House of Motion in Miami, bringing their community together with ours for a morning that sold out before we'd even finished planning the run sheet. Fresh flowers waiting, mats down for later, and a room full of Gold Coast locals who'd turned up for a Sunday that felt like a bit of everything, creativity, movement and good company.
Flowers First
We kicked the morning off with fresh seasonal blooms, walking everyone through building their own take home arrangement before a single mat came out. Most of the room had never arranged flowers before, and it was genuinely lovely watching how quickly that changed, hands finding their way with the stems, people asking each other for opinions on colour and shape. Everyone left with a bouquet they'd made themselves and a pair of flower scissors to keep, which felt like the right kind of souvenir for a morning like this.
Pilates to Finish
Once the bouquets were done, one of the instructors from House of Motion led the room through a Pilates session to close things out. It was a nice way to end the morning, everyone already relaxed and chatting from the flower table, then moving through a proper stretch and workout together before heading home. A few people asked us on the spot about ordering flowers for birthdays and other events coming up, which is exactly the kind of conversation we hope for at these things.
Working with The Female Collective
Rachael and the team put together a morning that pulled two communities into one room, and it's easy to see why people show up for what The Female Collective organises. Pairing that with fresh flowers and House of Motion's Miami studio turned out to be a genuinely good match, and a sold out room on a Sunday morning is about as clear a sign as you can get that Gold Coast locals want more of this kind of thing.
Thank you to everyone who came along, to The Female Collective for bringing our communities together, and to House of Motion for having us in the space. MOVE + BLOOM was everything we hoped it would be, and we're already thinking about the next one.
