What Happens to Our Flowers After Big Events? We Donate Them—and You Can Too
Share
As an event florist on the Gold Coast, we’re fortunate to play a role in some of life’s most meaningful moments—weddings, milestone birthdays, Mother’s Day celebrations, corporate launches, and more.
Our days are filled with colour, creativity, and the joy of transforming fresh flowers into something truly special. But when the final guest leaves, and the celebration winds down, there’s a question we’re often asked by brides, businesses & customers alike: What happens to all the flowers afterwards?
Sure, you can take them home, or even give them to your guests! At Flowers Gold Coast, we believe in making every stem count.
After major events and floral peak days like Mother’s Day, we take great care in repurposing arrangements and bouquets that are still in perfect condition. Instead of letting these blooms go to waste, we donate them to local aged care homes across the Gold Coast.

It’s a quiet tradition started with a Family Friend of ours, who puts an enormous amount of time back into residents at various centres across the Gold Coast. We've seen first-hand how a simple bunch of dahlias, roses, or more complicated arrangements can spark joy and conversation in aged care communities. For many residents, flowers offer more than beauty—they represent connection, memories, and the warmth of being thought of.
We’re not sharing this to boast. In fact, we hesitated to write about it. But in conversations with our customers—particularly newlyweds, party hosts, and event planners—we’ve found that many people simply don’t realise how easy and impactful it can be to donate event flowers. Seeing the faces brighten of these residents, and hear their laughter, is enough to make your heart melt.

If you’ve recently hosted a wedding, elopement, corporate event, or special occasion, we encourage you to consider giving your flowers a second life. Whether you coordinate a drop-off to a local aged care facility, or ask us to assist with donation logistics, it’s a meaningful way to extend the life of your celebration—and bring joy to someone else’s day. These residents not only love to look at them, they spend time with one another, pulling the arrangements apart, and putting them back together again, acting like florist's themselves, in their own makeshift Flower Studio.

Our forever constant theme at Flowers Gold Coast has been, and always will be, "For the Special Moments". Donating post-event flowers is a small but powerful way to do good with what’s already been created. It aligns perfectly with our values as a modern, community-minded florist serving the Gold Coast and surrounding areas.
Kindness, like flowers, has a way of blooming when it’s shared.
